I don’t plan to update the blog often on weekends, because this is prime time for Stelian and I to go out exploring together. But since he’s under deadline and doing a bit of work today, I thought I’d share with you that I just tried Rivella.
This is Switzerland’s own soft drink, made with milk serum (left over from the cheese-making process). It’s very popular here. I’d heard about it before moving here, and was very curious, and also pretty apprehensive, when I opened my first bottle.
So how does it taste? Well, nothing like what I expected (though what I did expect, I can’t quite say). I wouldn’t guess that it has anything to do with milk…it’s carbonated, only slightly yellowy (and the bottle is tinted brown to disguise this), and just pretty sweet. In fact, it reminds me a bit of Fresca, if any of you have had that.
I would drink this again. Stelian says he can’t handle it because of the thought of what it is. But I find it to be just another sweet, fizzy drink — so if I’m in the mood for a soda, why not go Swiss?
